What is PVC?

What is PVC? PVC is an abbreviation of the English word (Polyvinyl chloride) which means (polyvinyl chloride). PVC is a very hard and resistant type of plastic that is widely used in many industries. This material becomes soft and flexible by adding lubricants.

Due to the durability of the product produced with PVC, this valuable material has opened its place in construction and decoration and is used instead of wood, cement and clay, and in the current situation, it is one of the most valuable products of the petrochemical industry. .

The most important features of PVC

PVC has important features that make it suitable for various uses.

Some of these features include:

1- Reasonable price

Compared to other materials, PVC has a very reasonable and low price. This low price has caused many industries to use PVC widely.

2- High durability

As we mentioned, PVC is made of plastic. And you know that plastic is very durable and sometimes remains in the environment for hundreds of years and does not decompose. Of course, this high durability is unfortunately expensive for the environment. Now, since PVC is one of the hardest types of plastic and has high flexibility, it can be used in many industries. One of the most obvious examples of the use of PVC is home plumbing, which has replaced metal pipes today.

3- Very high flexibility of PVC

PVC can be made into practically any shape. This material is easily deformed in front of the heat and can be turned into the desired shape, and this issue makes it ideal for the manufacture and production of various accessories. Also, the high formability of this product has made it easily used in CNC machines and turned into the desired shape.

Application of PVC coating

In the continuation of the topic, it is necessary to get acquainted with the applications of PVC coating, which is actually a thin layer of PVC that is stretched or glued on other products, and among the types of these applications, the following can be mentioned:

•  False Ceiling
•  Traffic signs
•  Decorative ceilings
•  Toilet partition
•  Cabinets in the kitchen, bathroom and toilets
•  Can be used in the furniture industry
•  Car, train, subway and ship cabinets
•  Windows or doors
•  Plating, acid and alkaline tanks coating
•  Coating for the protection of machinery
•  Can be used in construction models
•  Pool lockers
•  Can be used in city furniture

One of the most important applications of PVC is in wood and decoration industries

As mentioned, one of the applications of PVC is in the wood industry. The best and most receptive host for PVC is also MDF. Raw MDF (chipboard) is usually less used due to the simplicity of design and color. PVC covers can easily solve this problem.

PVC coating is usually used on MDF boards in 2 ways. The first mode is large covers that completely change the appearance of MDF. The second mode is narrow and small strips that are used for the sides of MDF and wooden structures.

Of course, gluing PVC on MDF is not an easy task. First, keep in mind that the most important and widely used PVC coating in the wood industry is the membrane coating. Therefore, when you hear the word membrane, it means the same PVC layers that are stretched over MDF. PVC layers are glued on MDF by a special glue called membrane glue.

PVC can be considered one of the most widely used coatings in the wood industry (especially cabinet making). The resistance of PVC is very high compared to other types of coating. It is enough to implement your desired design and role on MDF by CNC machine. Then, the PVC layer is glued on the MDF by a special vacuum machine and membrane glue.

Also, when using MDF panels (especially in cabinets), its sides are covered by thin PVC strips. PVC has a very high resistance to heat, humidity and scratches. The variety of design and role of these strips is very high and they can be used for almost any type of MDF with any coating.

Conclusion :

PVC has penetrated to such an extent in various industries, including the wood industry, that we can safely say that there is no substitute for it (at least so far). PVC has a low price, high strength and flexibility, and is widely available. Another important point is that it is easy to implement any type of design and pattern on PVC. Therefore, it is not surprising that it is used more and more every day.
